Applications Open for the Non-Resident Research Fellowship at the Institute of Middle East for Public Policy

The Institute of Middle East for Public Policy (IMEPP) announces the opening of applications for the Non-Resident Research Fellowship Program. This is a six-month research fellowship that aims to support young researchers and enhance their contribution to the public debate on economic policies in Egypt, from a free-market economic perspective.

Four fellows will be selected. Priority will be given to applicants from inside Egypt, applications from outside Egypt may also be considered, provided they have strong knowledge of the economic and political context in Egypt and have previously worked on it.

The fellowship offers a monthly stipend ranging between USD 500 and USD 800, based on experience and competence.

The Institute of Middle East for Public Policy (IMEPP) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting policy reform in Egypt and the Middle East. Application Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in research work.
  • Ability to conduct research, analysis, data collection, and research writing, including:
  • Designing public policy–related research questions.
  • Collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Using official and secondary sources (government reports, statistical data, legislation, budgets).
  • In-depth familiarity with the Egyptian economic context, with regular follow-up on public policy developments, including fiscal and monetary policies, the role of the state in the market alongside the private sector, subsidies, public spending, and the relationship between the economy, social welfare.

 

At this stage, applicants are required to submit a CV along with initial research ideas, not exceeding one page, including: the proposed research title, a brief description of the research idea and the main problem, the reason for interest in the topic and its importance to economic policies in Egypt, along with an initial proposed methodology, on one of the following topics:

  • Economic reforms in the education sector
  • Economic reforms in the health sector
  • Policy reforms related to availability of housing
  • Economic reforms in the banking sector

Applications will be evaluated based on the quality of the research idea, its relevance to the Egyptian context, and its compatibility with the Institute’s objectives, qualifications and experience. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the end of February.
