Webinar | Egypt’s Old Rent Law: Toward Equitable Solutions
The crisis surrounding Egypt’s old rent law remains one of the most complex social and economic issues in the country, impacting millions of citizens who have occupied rental housing units for decades at minimal costs. As calls grow to amend this law, concerns have emerged over potential wide reaching social and economic repercussions, particularly in light of proposals that would terminate rental contracts after a defined transitional period.
The Institute of Middle East for Public Policy (IMEPP) organized a dedicated webinar to examine the dimensions of this crisis and to present a range of reform proposals aimed at achieving a fair balance between the rights of landlords and tenants drawing insights from similar international experiences.
